Problems of To-day

Carnegie Oldpark Library, Belfast, 2025

Problems of To-day is a series of banners and drawings exhibited in the context of the former Carnegie Oldpark Library. The library opened in 1906 with a grant donated by industrialist Andrew Carnegie. The building was abandoned by the public sector in 2010, along with the closure of nine other libraries across Belfast. The work responds to the building and its history, addressing Andrew Carnegie’s legacy of capitalism, language and the importance of public libraries.

This exhibition marked a conclusion to my time as artist-in-residence in the Carnegie Oldpark Library throughout 2024.
